Políticas de Reconocimiento, Prácticas Estatales e Interculturalidad

In order to study the impact of public policies in contexts of indigenous presence, four territories were selected to conduct this research: Arica and San Pedro de Atacama, in the north of the country, and in the south, in the Araucanía Region,  the cities of Pucón and Galvarino. In addition, the Metropolitan Region was included, through the  the communes of La Pintana, Peñalolén, La Florida, Maipú and Providencia.

Using case studies, this research addresses topics such as Language and Education, Health, Citizenship and Indigenous Policy.

Preliminary results show issues like the prosecution of environmental conflict processes; relevance and presence of indigenous issues; the revaluation of discourses on ethnicity; various forms of implementation of public policies for the indigenous population; different mechanisms for participation and state presence in the local affairs.

Finally, various forms of participation of indigenous organizations and civil society on the territory have come up, which has allowed the access to cross-sectional information for the design and implementation of public policies in intercultural contexts.
