Manuel Prieto holds a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Arizona. He serves as Associate Professor of the Department of Historical and Geographical Sciences of the University of Tarapacá, Arica. His research includes the fields of political and cultural water ecology, privatization of natural resources, extractive industries, socio-environmental transformations of the high Andean wetlands, and contemporary archaeology.
