Ph.D. in Latin American Studies, he has specialized in the areas of ethnolinguistics and semiology. His field of work has been the Mapuche culture, mainly its textile culture, the desert culture, in connection with the life in the mining camps, and the indigenous photography of Chile. Professor at the School of Anthropology UC. Director of the Center for Intercultural and Indigenous Research.
