LATIN AMERICAN SUMMER SCHOOL ON SOCIAL ISSUES

LASI is a summer school aimed at doctoral students and highly qualified young researchers with at least a Master’s degree. The objective of the school is to provide students with the opportunity to meet for a week in a cloistered setting, receiving training and supervision from leading social scientists. It also aims to provide an opportunity to bring together graduate students and young researchers from Latin America, North America and Europe. In addition to the training process, the summer school is expected to be an opportunity for networking with other researchers from different universities and disciplines, which will allow them to exchange knowledge and experiences during their future research career.

In addition to the training process, the summer school is expected to be an opportunity for networking with other researchers from different universities and disciplines, which will allow them to exchange knowledge and experiences during their future research career.
With three editions under its belt, LASI is organized around plenary classes, debates, and intensive workshops that focus on specific themes and theories, these workshops include field trips and are made up of eight to ten students each. Each workshop is supervised by two tutors, one local and one international academic. Students will receive the program, texts and readings, and a description of the evaluations in advance.
The school is an initiative of the Center for Intercultural and Indigenous Studies (CIIR) and the Institute of Anthropology and Archaeology of San Pedro de Atacama (IAA) of the Universidad Católica del Norte.
