PARTICIPATING INSTITUTIONS

CIIR is an academic consortium built into three universities: Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC), Universidad Diego Portales, and Universidad Academia de Humanismo Cristiano.

Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile

Throughout the years, Academics from different faculties have developed various projects that rescue the intercultural perspective in various fields, among which you can highlight the Centro de Desarrollo Local or the Museo Leandro Penchulef placed on the Villarrica Campus, which promote the valorization of the local heritage of the Araucanía Region. Academics from the following units participate in the CIIR:

Villarrica Campus

Since 1979, the Villarrica Campus has been the space by which UC has bound together with indigenous communities developing research that values their culture and makes progress in the process of intercultural recognition. Since the CIIR established in the area in 2013, its vocation has been significantly enhanced.

Diego Portales University

This university participates with the CIIR through the Instituto de Investigación en Ciencias Sociales, ICSO, which brings together academics from the schools and programs of the Social Sciences and History Faculty of Diego Portales University. Its main objectives are linked to promote academic collaboration among researchers from political science, history and sociology, especially around issues of impact and public interest. Regarding its work at CIIR, UDP interferes with research in the field of indigenous consultation, constitutional recognition of Indigenous Peoples and the development of public policies with an intercultural focus.

Universidad Academia de Humanismo Cristiano

This university participates in the CIIR through its School of Anthropology, which has two decades of experience. Its work has been renowned by promoting pluralistic dialogue and collaboration under an intercultural approach. Within its field of work, ethnic and multicultural studies, visual anthropology and urban anthropology, stand out developing these and other areas of knowledge. Within CIIR, UAHC researchers develop research in areas such as ethnogenesis, ethnopolitics and indigenous communities and environmental conflicts.
